Discussion, War in Iraq

I'm not saying I have the answer and I'm not saying Bush is right.   In fact, I think it is pretty clear now things should have been done differently. But hindsight is like that.   We all know the reasons stated for going into the war and we were all for doing something about it (9-11) at the time.   I don't know what the truth is, that is what this is about, but I doubt you do either.  So, we want to blame somebody for our Ills and it is easier to blame someone you can touch, someone you feel you have some power over.  We can point fingers all day for 9/11 but the fact is everybody shares blame.  Bin Laden is known for taking years in preparing for attacks, so one might say the majority of the intelligence failure for 9/11 fell on Bill Clinton's watch. It is possible planning or at least the idea started for the first attack even before Clinton came to office. I would have thought however, that there would have been a major intelligence 'wake up' after the first attack failed. it isn't like he didn't have lots of indications of what was coming.   Lets not forget the attack on the USS Cole, the Khobar Towers, the Saudi barracks and three separate overseas embassies. It is unfortunate the US public is so short minded when it comes to issues of this nature. I think the fault of 9/11 and all the rest falls at the feet of the average everyday voter.  We elect scum every year to office simply because they tell us what we want to hear and than we turn a blind eye to the fact that nothing they promise ever gets done, yet at reelection time we vote for the name we hear the most or maybe the person 'our' party says to vote for. I suppose that relieves the average citizen the arduous task of thinking.

Many think pulling out of Iraq is the way to go but it will be a victory for the extremists. Do you really think they are going to stop there, kiss and make up?  These people are nuts. They attacked us 7 times during the Clinton Administration.
It appears they have a goal of some sorts in all this, it is called islamifaction. It is the duty of every Muslim to make everyone else a Muslim, or kill them. It says so in so many words in their "bible" the Koran. Chauvaze in Venezuela is staying in power mostly because he is telling everyone that America is about to attack Venezuela.   The Mulhas stay in power by telling people they must fight against the US and if we weren't there, (Iraq) they would still be fighting against us because that is what keeps the Muhlas in power. They crossed the ocean twice before, they have attacked American (US) citizens outside the US, they have bombed our embassies..
They don't even have to pay for passage to the US now, the US will pay for it. e.g. 100,000 Somolies (Muslims) are now in the US thanks to our government and probably as many Iraqis. I thought we were fighting a war for "their" country, not to bring them here!

I don't like the loss of a single American in Iraq or anywhere else and I am insulted to the depth of my sole for the slightest implication otherwise but I quite honestly don't have an answer for Iraq.   Clearly this is not a good situation but even with hindsight, I'm not sure what would have been best. I would say that Korea and Iran are bigger threats to us than Iraq was but maybe not.   At the time, it did seem a reasonable response at the time. I, like many others wanted to hit back for 9-11 and trusted our leaders to know where. Like it or not, we are committed now. We can fight them there or we can fight them here. I believe that. You could blame the war on the Democrats.   The dems backed Kerry to run against Bush.   They had to dig deep under a big rock in the deep end of a shit pond to find a person as despicable as Clinton and Kerry was just the next gob of goo down. There are many today that love Clinton and I really can't understand it but there were those that liked Stalin too so who knows. Clinton was/is a sweet talker just like Hitler, Kim Jong-il, Charles Manson, Jim Jones and many others.

So why don't people want to support Bush? (I mean besides the fact he sold out the average citizen to big business) It is political, (I think it is a conspiracy but that is another story) pure politics. If Bush succeeds, the Republicans will be in office next election, (they might anyway) and the Democrats don't like that.. So the liberals don't really care about the people of Iraq (funny, they thought going into Kosovo with Clinton was OK) and they were willing to gamble that Saddam (now Al Qeada) wouldn't really do anything bad against America. Yeah, I think if we weren't there 'they' would love us, [sic]. Actually I think they, the liberals, prefer to just ignore the possibility. Besides, if 'they' do attack, they can A: blame it on Bush anyway and B: America will be so upset they won't think about how something come about. It is sick, it is really sick. It is all about "me, me, me and screw you." Republican and Democrat alike.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest thing. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war is worse. A man who has nothing which he cares about more than his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

John Stuart Mill 1806-1873

Push come to shove, what I think & and what you think won't make a damn in the world order so I don't know why I get so worked up about it, do you?
