During a town hall Thursday in Minneapolis, MN Obama told the crowd that sometimes the news out of D.C. is only about "Washington fights" and "fabricated issues."

"They're phony scandals that are generated," Obama said. "It's all geared towards the next election or ginning up a base -- it's not on the level."

If Lois Lerner's targeting of more than 12,000 non-profits, and her sudden loss of thousands of e-mails during the time frame in question is indeed a phony scandal, why then would she plead the Fifth? If this was nothing more than an innocent mistake, why wouldn't she be transparent?

Rep. Dave Camp (R-MI), isn't buying Obama's "fabricated fights" and "phony issues", and he's calling it like he sees it. "At every turn Lerner was using the IRS as a political tool for a political purpose in defiance of taxpayer rights."

Despite the media's best attempts to parrot Obama's talking points, the American people aren't buying the "phony scandal" chatter.

Amidst an angry and rising sea of scandal, it's easy to overlook the growing Veterans Affairs scandal.

CNN is reporting today that whistleblowers from a Phoenix VA hospital say records of dead veterans were outinely "removed" or "changed" to boost the facility's statistics. One noted that records were written over --"basically hiding the deaths, a process called "bringing them back to life."

In all, a new report is blaming the deaths of more than 1,000 veterans on "poor care."

Less than a month ago, pressure by angry veterans, lawmakers and grassroots Americans led to VA Secretary Eric Shinseki's resignation.

Now, after a series of fiery exchanges last night during a House hearing with Internal Revenue Service chief John Koskinen, the grilling is expected to intensify this morning when former IRS attorney Jennifer O'Connor, who now works in the Obama White House will take the stand.

O'Connor was invited to testify, but the White House refused to let her appear, forcing House Oversight committee chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) subpoenaed her to testify this morning.

The IRS, and the Obama White House are back-peddling on a slippery slope of lies and deceit, while House members probe for the truth.

Tonight Internal Revenue Service chief John Koskinen will be back in the hot seat to face off against Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and members of the House Ways and Means committee

During this evening's hearing, we expect Koskinen to become a stone mason -- fortifying the protective wall being erected around those involved in a scandal and cover up that deputy Wall Street Journal editorial page editor Daniel Henninger says "is worse than Watergate."

This scandal is worse than Watergate because we are the ones being targeted. Ordinary citizens who love their country -- not political operatives going after each other.

That's why we are asking, "Is there a worse abuse of power in our nation's history than the current Internal Revenue scandal?"

As the layers of the IRS scandal and cover up are slowly pealed back it's clear there is a massive conspiracy reaching into the White House...

But the only way to bring the truth to the surface and hold those accountable to the fullest extent of the law is through the appointment of an Independent Prosecutor -- free from the control of Obama and his Justice Department thugs.

On Sunday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) called for a special prosecutor to investigate the mysterious missing emails from former IRS charitable organizations head Lois Lerner between January 2009 and April 2011. The IRS announced that the emails had gone missing on Friday, prompting House Ways and Means Committee chairman Dave Camp to fume, There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General. Cruz went further, tweeting out a call by Ron Fournier of National Journal for a special prosecutor.

The "IRS" activity is surely criminal, under 26 US Code Section 7212 and 5 US Code Section 7323. As I write in my book, The People vs. Barack Obama: The Criminal Case Against The Obama Administration, "the IRS and the Obama administration violated both the Hatch Act and the omnibus provision of the Internal Revenue Code."

But here's the reality: the DOJ will not investigate, and the Obama administration will never sanction a special prosecutor. In March, Eric Holder denied Cruz's request for a special prosecutor on the IRS issue. Which means that, as usual, the executive branch is entirely unanswerable for its crimes.

The Obama administration knows that. Which is why the administration has no problem whatsoever abusing its power to grant access to the United States to Mexican gang members. As the Washington Times reported today, Border Patrol officials are swamped by the number of minors crossing illegally into the United States and frustrated that they can't turn away known Mexican gang members.

The Internal Revenue Service tried to bury the bombshell news over the weekend that 43,000 of Lois Lerner's emails have gone missing!

These emails were from the time frame of the height of the IRS targeting of the Tea Party and were from the central figure in the entire scandal. And now, one year into the congressional probe, the IRS suddenly reports that 43,000 Lerner emails are gone forever!

Richard Nixon got impeached in large part due to an 18-1/2 minute gap in an audio recording. Here we have 43,000 missing emails from the key IRS link to the Obama administration and the Tea Party targeting scandal!

Of course since this news broke, the government is calling it "unfortunate" and nothing more than a "sloppy mistake."

Breaking news out of Washington ... The Internal Revenue Service has lost more emails!

National Review is reporting that in addition to Lois Lerner, six more key employees have mysteriously lost their emails from the time frame of the height of the IRS targeting.

Just weeks ago, President Obama pledged to work with Congress to get to the bottom of the scandal and hold those responsible accountable. But House Ways and Means chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) smells a rat. He's outraged that the IRS has known since February that it would not be able to produce the emails he requested, but waited months to inform the committee.

He now says Obama has reneged on his promise, and is stonewalling the investigation -- forcing them to "smoke out the truth."

As we mentioned yesterday, Richard Nixon got impeached in large part because of an 18-1/2 minute gap in an audio recording. The IRS scandal is more egregious in that the Obama administration appears to be actively working to cover-up the scandal!
